Johnnie Layton

Thorntown resident, Johnnie R. Layton, 45, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 1996, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A son of Johnnie and Alice (Rogers) Layton, he was born Oct. 30, 1950, in Richmond, Ky. He was married to DeAnna Reagan in 1978. She also died Wednesday. Layton was reared and educated in Boone County, having graduated from Lebanon High School in 1968. He worked as a pipefitter for BMW Mechanical Contractors Local 440. He had been assigned to construction sites throughout Indiana.

Survivors include his parents, of Thorntown; children Mrs. Charles V. (Michelle D. “Micki”) King III, Indianapolis, Dustin M. Layton, Lebanon, Juliana M. Layton and Hank W. Layton, both of Freedom; brothers Jerry W. Layton, Richmond, Ky., Randy Layton and Danny J. Layton, both of Thorntown; a sister, Mrs. Rick (Diana) Layton-Logsdon, Thorntown; and a grandchild, Delilah Nicole Layton. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Myers Chapel of Memories, Lebanon, with the Rev. Jerry Collier officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Thorntown. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
